A delegation of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami met with Australian Deputy High Commissioner Clinton Pobke in Dhaka on 4th September, Wednesday. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar led the delegation. He was accompanied by Jamaat-e-Islami Central Executive Council Member and party's Central Publicity and Media Secretary Matiur Rahman Akanda.
Significant roles of Jamaat-e-Islami in various democratic movements of Bangladesh and the constructive role of the elected representatives of Jamaat-e-Islami in the previous parliament were discussed in the meeting.
The Australian Deputy High Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the overall role played by Jamaat-e-Islami in Bangladesh. He appreciated the efficiencies and sincerities of Bangladeshis living in Australia and claimed that the Australian government will do more to increase their opportunities for the people of Bangladesh. At this time, they discussed various bilateral issues related to the interests of Bangladesh and Australia and wished for the development, progress and prosperity of both countries.
