Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former Member of Parliament Mia Golam Porwar said that when the morality of a nation becomes corrupted, no structural or fundamental change can be achieved while keeping that morality intact. He said that the only way to resolve the crisis is to bring about structural reform of the state and a qualitative transformation in leadership.
Yesterday, Wednesday, 3 December, a grand community gathering was held at a community hall in Luton, United Kingdom, organized by “Probashi Voice Luton.” Presided over by Mr. Sharifur Rahman, President of Probashi Voice Luton, the event was attended by leaders of various social and political organizations among the expatriate Bangladeshi community.
Mia Golam Porwar further said that if the moral standard of the country’s leadership improves and the country becomes free from corruption, then all problems— including the harassment of expatriates at the airport—will be automatically resolved.
He said that the fallen fascist regime had devastated the structure of all state institutions. If a patriotic Islamic government is established, expatriates will not need to present demands; we will take all necessary initiatives to fulfill them, Insha Allah.
Secretary General said that Jamaat has played the highest role everywhere in ensuring the voting rights of expatriates.
He added that during the long period of fascist rule, Jamaat had to endure great persecution. For many years, Jamaat’s central office as well as all district and upazila offices were shut down. The top leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami was executed and removed from the world. Finally, the party itself was banned. But through the student uprising of the 24th year, a new sun has risen in the sky of Bangladesh. This was solely Allah’s mercy and help.
He said that success in the Hereafter is impossible without attaining Allah’s pleasure. We seek Allah’s pleasure by striving to establish the victory of His Deen on His earth.
Former MP Mia Golam Porwar called upon everyone, including expatriates, to play a significant role from their respective positions in establishing an Islamic welfare state—standing for the country, the nation, and the truth—in the upcoming national election in February.
The gathering was jointly conducted by Maulana Hafiz Shahid Ahmad and Arafat Mizan. The program began with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Maulana Siddiqur Rahman. Special remarks at the event were delivered by Barrister Abu Bakar Molla, the spokesperson of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami for Europe.
Among others who addressed the event were: Imam of Hawk wall ring Mosque and former student leader Maulana Fakhrul Islam; distinguished community figure and former student leader Syed Tofayel Ahmed; former student leader Abdul Karim Jalil; former teacher Ashraf Uddin; Abu Ahmad Siddiq; Maulana Mujib Mahmud; Maulana Tasnim Majumdar; Fazlur Rahman; former student leader Fakhrul Alam Selim; and Nasim Elahi Tuhin.
