A meeting of the central executive council of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami was held on September 4, 2024. Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman chaired the meeting. In his speech, Jamaat Ameer said, “We are grateful to Almighty Allah as after thirteen long years, Allah has allowed us today to hold a meeting of the Central Executive Council officially, Alhamdulillah. We respectfully remember the memories of our former Ameer Professor Ghulam Azam, Shaheed Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami, late Maqbul Ahmad, Allama Delawar Hossain Sayedee, Maulana Abdus Sobhan, Professor AKM Nazir Ahmad, former Secretary General Shaheed Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid, Shaheed Kamaruzzaman. Shaheed Abdul Quader Mollah, Shaheed Mir Qasem Ali and all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Islamic movement. We also remember the brave martyrs of the second independence movement. May Allah grant the dignity of martyrdom to all of them. May Allah bless those who were injured, lost their eyes and became crippled in the recent movement.

The outgoing fascist Awami government has carried out murder, enforced disappearances, oppression and persecution against millions of people for the last one and a half centuries because of their dissident views. Jamaat-e-Islami is the biggest victim of this oppression. During the regime of autocracy, the people of the country have been deprived of their right to vote, basic civil rights, right to hold meetings and processions. Awami government has destroyed all the constitutional institutions of the country. We expect the interim government will complete reforms in key sectors of the state in due course and hand over power to elected representatives by holding free and fair election.Jamaat has to play an effective role in the reconstruction of the country.
