Jamaat leaders take part in relief distribution activities in Netrokona district

Netrokona district is experiencing unprecedented suffering and natural disaster this time. Due to excessive water flow and torrential rains, 8 Upazilas of this district have gone under water. The entire area is deprived of electricity, network, and gas supply. Shops are closed in most of the places. People have taken shelter in comparatively higher places.

As per the instruction of Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, a delegation of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami led by the party’s central executive committee member Advocate Matiur Rahman Akanda visited the flood-affected district today. They distributed relief among the victims in Kolmakandi and Mohonganj areas.

At that time, Matiur Rahman Akanda said,the vast area of Netrokona district is under water now. We have traveled a three-hour-long journey and witnessed only water. It is an intolerable scenario. Nobody in the outer district can understand the sufferings of the locals.

Addressing the flood victims, he said, “your beloved organization Jamaat-e-Islami always try to keep by the side of the victims during all dangers. Jamaat’s basic agenda is to work for the betterment and welfare of the poor and impoverished people. As a part of our tradition and legacy, we are here to serve you.”

He also stated that Almighty Allah imposes crisis upon the people for their mistakes and sins so that people can understand their shortcomings and come back to Allah. Only Almighty Allah has the power to rescue us from the crisis. So, we have to seek mercy and help from him. Jamaat leaders also prayed to Allah seeking His blessing to bring an end to this natural disaster.

Jamaat’s central organizing secretary Samiul Haque Faruqee, Mymensingh district Ameer Abdul Karim, Netrokona district Ameer Maulana Enamul Haq, Mymensingh district Nayeb-e-Ameer Kamrul Hasan Milon, and Chhatrashibir district president were also present on the occasion.
