Lawyers have met detained religious scholar, world renowned preacher of the holy Quran, former lawmaker and one of the top most leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Allama Delawar Hossain Sayedee at the Kashimpur central jail today. At that time, the veteran religious scholar said, “I am completely innocent. If the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court ensures justice, my review petition will be accepted and I will be acquitted from all false charges, by the will of the Almighty Allah.
Supreme Court’s lawyer Matiur Rahman Akanda, Saifur Rahman, Parvez Hossen and Maulana Sayedee’s son Masood Sayedee went to meet Allama Sayedee at Kashimpur central jail on Wednesday.
The lawyers met Allama Sayedee to hold a legal consultation as his pending review petition has appeared in the cause list of the Appellate Division. During the meeting, Allama Sayedee instructed his lawyers to take due preparation so that they can uphold the legal points on his behalf during the hearing properly. He stated that 5 judges of the Appellate Division gave three types of verdict in my case. One of the judges had given me death sentence. One had given me acquittal from charges, whilst 3 judges had given me life time imprisonment. Such a dissenting order in the appellate division, the apex court of the country is unprecedented. This incident proved that I have not received justice in this case. Pointing out all those grounds, I have submitted a review petition. I hope that the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court would ensure justice, subsequently my review petition will be accepted and I will be acquitted from all false charges and will go back to the ground of the holy Quran, by the will of the Almighty Allah.
I want to convey my salam and greetings to the countrymen and seeking prayer from the people of my beloved country.
