Professor Mujib lambasts Daily ‘Bangladesh Pratidin’ for its false and intentional report against Jamaat-e- Islami and its leadership

Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 25th February, 2017 protesting and gainsaying a report of Bengali Daily ‘Bangladesh Pratidin’ titled ‘এবার ঘর পুড়ছে জামায়াতের’ (Now Jamaat is burning with its own fire) published on 25th February.

“Jamaat-e-Islami is a well-disciplined ideological party. This organization is functioning as per the spontaneous financial donation of the party leaders and activists. Every single income and expenses are being recorded meticulously and all the financial statements are being kept under regular audit. So there is no chance of any sort of financial embezzlement.

The concerned reporter as stated that party’s Secretary General Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has misappropriated money’ is completely false. The reporter has falsely propagated this information just to tarnish the image of Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and Jamaat-e-Islami.

As per the report narrated that, party’s Nayeb-e-Ameer has been expelled from the party as he had protested the financial misappropriation of Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, is also false and concocted. Mr. Ataur Rahman is not expelled. The reporter also claimed that the grassroots levels leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami are highly dissatisfied and angered, which are nothing but a sheer lie. The concerned reporter also manipulated this report by referring the quotation of Ataur Rahman even without talking with him for once. This dishonesty substantiated that the aforesaid report published in ‘Bangladesh Pratidin’ is totally false, fabricated and ill intentional.

This report has been made intentionally just to smear the image of Jamaat-e-Islami and Mr. Ataur Rahman. I am vehemently protesting this report. I hope that the authority of Bangladesh Pratidin would publish our rejoinder properly to minimize the confusion. I further expect that they would upheld the journalism ethics by refraining false and intentional propaganda against Jamaat-e-Islami in future.”
