Begum Afifa Azam, wife of former Jamaat Ameer Professor Ghulam Azam dies; Jamaat Ameer and Secretary General express condolence

Begum Afifa Azam, wife of former Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, world renowned Islamic thinker and veteran language movement hero, Professor Ghulam Azam has died this evening (28th June, 2019) in a hospital in Dhaka. She was suffering from many diseases including lung infection. She was 87. She has left 6 sons, grandsons and granddaughters and many other relatives. Her first son is Abdullahil Mamun Al Azmi, second son Abdullahil Amin Al Azmi, third son Abdullahil Momen Al Azmi, fourth son former Brigadier General Abdullahil Aman Al Azmi, 5th son Abdullahil Noman Al Azmi and 6th son Abdullahil Salman Al Azmi.

Some plain clothed men claiming themselves as the law enforcers, had abducted her 4th son, retired Brigadier General Abdullahil Aman Al Azmi in August of 2016. He is still traceless. Her Namaz-e-Janaja will be held tomorrow, 29th June, Saturday at 8.30pm. at Mogbazar Kazi office lane area.

Message of condolence

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Maqbul Ahmad and its Secretary General Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following joint message of condolence on 28 June 2019 expressing deep shock at the death of Begum Afifa Azam.

In the condolence message, the Jamaat leaders stated that, we are deeply saddened at the death of Begum Afifa Azam. We are feeling like losing our intimate one. As a member (Rukon) of Jamaat-e-Islami, she has worked hard all through her life for establishing Islamic society. She had supported Professor Ghulam Azam (Rahimahullah) while discharging his various organizational duties including party Ameer. Her sacrifice and dedication are beyond comparison. Some plain clothed men claiming themselves as the law enforcers, had abducted her 4th son, retired Brigadier General Abdullahil Aman Al Azmi in August of 2016. She took her last breath with the pain for her traceless son.

The Jamaat leaders further prayed for Mrs. Azam saying that, may Allah forgive and bless Begum Afifa Azam (Rahimahullah). May Allah accept her as a distinguished guest and expand her graveyard. May Allah turn all her vices into pieties. May Allah accept all her noble deeds to bless with Jannah.

Extending deep shock to her mournful families, Jamaat leaders prayed to Almighty Allah for them so that they can hold patience in this mournful period.
