45 pious ladies arrested from an Iftar program in Chuadanga district; Mia Ghulam Parwar condemns

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and former lawmaker Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar has issued the following statement on 15 May 2019 protesting and condemning the unjustified arrest of 45 pious ladies including the house owner from an Iftar Program held in Boalia village of the Alamdanga Upazila under Chuadanga district on 14 May noon.

“I am vehemently protesting and condemning the unjust arrest of 45 pious ladies from an Iftar Program held in Boalia village of the Alamdanga Upazila under Chuadanga district. By such arrest, the government has restricted their religious rights.

The holy month of Ramadan is being observed now. It is citizen’s right to arrange such Iftar program during this month. By obstructing those rights and rituals, the authority has violated country’s law and the constitution. Although it is the obligation of the government to preserve and protect citizen’s religious rights. But they have denied such responsibilities. I am urging the countrymen to raise voice against such ill-activities of the government.

Finally, I am calling upon the concerned authorities to pay respect to the domestic law and the constitution and to release all the pious ladies arrested from Chuadanga district immediately.
