Rajshahi city Jamaat leader and Ex-panel Mayor Abdus Samad arrested; Professor Mujib condemns

Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 26 April 2019 protesting and condemning the unjust arrest of Rajshahi city Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary, President of Rajshahi city Sramik Kollan Federation and former councilor of ward number of 30 under Rajshahi municipality Professor Abdus Samad.

“The government has arrested Professor Abdus Samad in fear of his growing popularity. I am vehemently protesting and condemning the incident.

Professor Abdus Samad is popular elected public representative who had successfully served the town as the panel mayor. He is a popular man and noted academician. The tyrannical face of the government has been exposed by such arrest drive. The government has lost the mass support and now they are trying to stay in power forcefully by detaining the popular personnel like Professor Samad. I am calling upon the countrymen to launch mass resistance against the fascist rule of the incumbent government.

I am urging the concerned authorities to stop oppression and to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including Professor Abdus Samad immediately.
