Ruling party goons attacked Hamidur Rahman Azad’s campaigners; Maulana Masum lambasts

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 25 December 2018 condemning the attack of the ruling party terrorists on a procession of the supporters of independent candidate for Cox’s Bazar-2 constituency and former MP Hamidur Rahman Azad and subsequent arrests of his 4 activists.

I am vehemently condemning the attack of the ruling party terrorists on a procession of the supporters of Hamidur Rahman Azad and subsequent arrests of his 4 activists in Cox’s Bazar.

Police is raiding the houses of his supporters and arresting them continuously. His wife has been kept confined within her house today. She is not allowed to do her electioneering. The law enforcers and the ruling party goons have created a reign of terror in the whole area. Police has arrested some 40 supporters of Mr. Azad in last couple of days. There is no environment for a fair election.

I am urging the concerned authorities to release Hamidur Rahman Azad and his detained supporters in order to create a suitable atmosphere for holding a fair and credible election.
