Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Maqbul Ahmad has issued the following statement on 1 December 2018 expressing deep shock as a man was killed and more than 150 people were injured in a clash between two factions of Tabligh-Jamaat today over establishing supremacy on Ijtema ground on the bank of the river Turag and city’s Ashkona area.
“The incident of factional clash within a religious platform like Tabligh-Jamaat is really painful. All the religious quarters are really worried at today’s incident.
The hierarchy of Tabligh Jamaat should hold more patience for the sake of greater interest. They should be inspired with the spirit of solidarity and brotherhood and try to resolve the issue peacefully through the process of dialogues and discussions. I am urging everybody to take due steps in this regard.
I hope that all concerned quarters will be able to reach into a consensus for resolving this problem. I am extending my deep sympathy to the injured victims. I am also praying for the salvation of the departed soul of the deceased and the quick recovery of all wounded people.
