Central Majlish-e-Shura member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Dinajpur south organizational district Ameer Anwarul Islam has issued the following statement on 21 November 2018 protesting the police’s massive arrest drive and crackdown in various villages of the Hakimpur and Birampur Upazila under Dinajpur district from afternoon till evening on 20th November.
“Police has ceaselessly conducting massive arrest drive and crackdown in various villages of the Hakimpur and Birampur Upazila under Dinajpur district and created panic among the locals. I am vehemently protesting such oppression.
The people believe such crackdown is nothing but an effort to foil the upcoming election. The authority is damaging the political atmosphere ahead of the election. I am calling upon the election commission and the concerned authorities to take steps for bring an immediate end to such crackdown.
