Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 26th October 2018 protesting and condemning the arrest of Chittagong city Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Professor Ahsan Ullah and also the way police vandalized his house during the arrest drive.
“The government has arrested Chittagong city Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and veteran academician Professor Ahsan Ullah just to attain their ill-political interest. Police also vandalized his house inhumanly during this arrest drive. I am severely protesting and condemning the incident.
The government is becoming desperate as the national parliamentary poll is set to be held soon. As a part of their reckless strategies, they are arresting the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from different places across the country. This arrest incident again revealed the fascist face of the government. No tyrant could stay in power by detaining the opposition activists and similarly the incumbent autocratic government will not be able too. I am urging the fellow countrymen to launch mass resistances against the misrule of the current regime.
Finally, I am calling upon the concerned authorities to stop repression and torture and also to release all the detained leaders and activists of the opposition parties, particularly of Jamaat-e-Islami including its Chittagong city Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Professor Ahsan Ullah immediately.
