Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar has issued the following statement on 23rd October 2018 protesting and condemning the arrest of former advisor to the caretaker government, former President of the Supreme Court Bar Association and the leader of the recently formed Jatio Oikko Front (National Unity Front) Barrister Mainul Hosein.
“The government has unjustifiably arrested former advisor to the caretaker government, former President of the Supreme Court Bar Association and the leader of the recently formed Jatio Oikko Front (National Unity Front) Barrister Mainul Hosein just to attain its ill-political interest. I am vehemently condemning the incident.
The fascist face of the government has been exposed again by this arrest incident. Barrister Mainul has been arrested as a part of the government’s conspiracy to linger its tyrannical tenure. But they will not be able to sustain ultimately by such repressive actions.
I am urging the countrymen for waging mass resistance against the government’s conspiracy as the authorities are mulling to foil the electoral process by continuing the crackdowns and arrest drives.
Finally, I am calling upon the concerned authorities to stop arrest drives and to release all the opposition leaders and activists including Barrister Mainul Hosein immediately.”
