Police arrested Jamaat men from Narayanganj and Narail; Mia Ghulam Parwar demands immediate release

Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar has issued the following statement on 19th October 2018 protesting and condemning the unjustified arrests of 9 party leaders from Narayanganj including the district Ameer Maulana Mainuddin Ahmad and 4 others from Narail district including the district Secretary Ataur Rahman Bachchu.

“Police have arrested 9 party leaders from Narayanganj including the district Ameer Maulana Mainuddin Ahmad and 4 others from Narail district including the district Secretary Ataur Rahman Bachchu just to attain the ill-political interest of the government. I am vehemently protesting and condemning the arrest drives.

Jamaat leaders and activists are being arrested from various parts of the country including Narayanganj and Narail as part of the government’s conspiracies to hold another lopsided election. These incidents proved clearly that the incumbent government does not have any more credibility. They are also trying to stay in office by using all the state apparatus through the process of a farcical election. I am asking the fellow countrymen to wage mass resistances against the conspiracies and evil plots of the government.

I am also calling upon the concerned authorities to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir immediately.”
