Maulana Masum rejects Rana Das Gupta’s allegation; Jamaat-e-Islami was never involved with the incident of minority attacks

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 28th September 2018 protesting and condemning the false and baseless remark of Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council’s General Secretary Rana Das Gupta as he has implicated Jamaat-e-Islami with the incidents of minority attacks in various places across the country.

In an interview with ‘The Daily Star’, referring the administrative investigations, Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council’s General Secretary Rana Das Gupta accused Jamaat-e-Islami of attacking minorities in Ramu of Cox’s Bazar district, Nasirnagar of Brahmanbaria district and Rangpur. His allegation is totally false and baseless. I am vehemently protesting and condemning his remarks.

Responding to his baseless comment, I want to assert that there is no nexus of Jamaat-e-Islami with the incidents of minority attacks. Rather, Jamaat leaders and activists have tried always to ensure security of these minority communities. I can challenge that no one could prove so far, any involvement of Jamaat-e-Islami with the attacks on minorities.

False news is repeatedly being published by implicating Jamaat-e-Islami with various ill-incidents. If we really want to protect these minorities from the evil syndicates, then we have to come out of prejudice and pre-conceived ideas and simultaneously we have to take some reasonable steps to unveil the truth. Jamaat-e-Islami is already to cooperate in this regard.

In this backdrop, I am urging Mr. Rana Das Gupta to be refrained from delivering such false and baseless comment without any proof and substantial evidences.
