Police seizes Jamaat’s vehicle; files false case against Gaibandha district Jamaat leaders; Secretary General condemns

Police of the Sundarganj police station under Gaibandha district has seized a vehicle of Jamaat-e-Islami along with its driver Nobi Hossen and two others on 4th September morning. Police also filed a case against 8 individuals including Gaibandha district Jamaat Ameer Abdur Rahim Sarkar and Secretary Abdul Karim and 30 unknown personnel. Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 7th September, 2018 protesting the incident.

Police has seized a vehicle of Jamaat-e-Islami along with its driver Nobi Hossen and two others and filed a case against Gaibandha district Jamaat leaders including Jamaat Ameer Abdur Rahim Sarkar and Secretary Abdul Karim just to harass them politically. I am vehemently protesting and condemning the incident. This incident has exposed the tyrannical face of the government once again. No reason was there to seize Jamaat’s vehicle or to file case against Jamaat leaders and activists. Police has filed this case to attain their ill political interest. Police is acting like party men. Such role of the law enforcers is really unfortunate. I am urging the countrymen to raise voice against such acts of the policemen.

I am urging the concerned authorities to release Jamaat’s vehicles along with the driver and other detainees and also to withdraw the false case which have been filed against Gaibandha district Jamaat leaders.
