Police carried raid in Dr. Masud's house on Eid day; Acting Secretary General condemns

Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana ATM Masum has issued a statement on 24th August, 2018 protesting and condemning police raid in the native house of Jamaat Dhaka city south Secretary and party's central working committee member Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud, located in Baufol upazila under Patuakhali district.

I am vehemently protesting and condemning police's inhuman raid in the native village house of Jamaat's Dhaka city South secretary and party's central working committee member Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud. Such a police raid on Eid day is really inhuman and certainly goes against the spirit of basic human rights.

Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud went in his native village along with his family members to celebrate the holy occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. Police's obstruction in such celebration is completely unlawful, illogical and unprecedented. Not only that, police also harassed the general Muslim devotees in the adjacent two mosques. The local people became angered with such incident. Police also arrested a teenage boy from a neighbouring house, though they became ultimately compelled to release him due to massive protests of the locals. Police could not act such inhumanly if they had minimum respect for Islamic values. Nobody expects such role from the policemen.

Baufol police station's officer-in-charge made a false statement about Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud. He did not go there to create any anarchy as the police OC has claimed. Dr. Masud went there to celebrate the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha only. The statement of the officer-in-charge is totally fictitious and concocted.

I am urging the Baufol police officer-in-charge to be refrained from making such fictitious comment in future.
