Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 18th August, 2018 urging the government to release Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General and former member of Parliament Hamidur Rahman Azad ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha.
“The government has unjustifiably kept Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General and former member of Parliament Hamidur Rahman Azad behind the bar. The authority has imprisoned him just to harass him politically. He is the victim of government’s political vengeance. He is a popular leader. He has been kept in jail in order to deprive the people of his constituency from getting his services. He is suffering from various diseases. Couple of days back, he became sick inside the prison. Even though the government did not release him.
I am urging the government to release him prior to the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha so that he can celebrate the holy occasion along with his families and relatives.
