Police arrested Jamaat activists from Jhalkathi and Rangpur districts; Mia Ghulam Parwar condemns

Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar has issued the following statement on 11th August, 2018 protesting and condemning the unjustified arrest of Jhalkathi district Jamaat’s organizing secretary Advocate Nasir Uddin, former district Secretary Advocate B M Aminul Islam, Sadar Upazila Ameer Shah Alam, Secretary Maulana Muniruzzaman and similar unjust arrest of Rangpur district’s Mithpukur Upazila’s Vice Chairman Abdul Baset Marzan and 9 other leaders.

“On 10th August, police unjustifiably arrested 8 leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami from Jhalkathi district and 9 other party members from Rangpur district. I am vehemently condemning such arrest drives.

Police have unlawfully arrested them just to harass them politically. The government detained them without any reason. Even the elected public representatives are not spared from the arrest drive and oppression of the government. The autocratic approach of the government has been exposed through these arrest incidents. I am urging the countrymen to raise voice against such oppression and torture of the government.

I am calling upon the concerned authorities to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including the members of Jhalkathi and Rangpur district organizational units.
