Police continues nationwide arrest drives against Jamaat activists; Rafiqul Islam Khan condemns

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan has issued the following statement on 27th August, 2017 protesting and condemning the unjust arrest of 6 members and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami Chandpur district including district’s secretary Maulana Billal Hossain Miaji from Chandpur city’s bus stand road on 26th August at 5 in the afternoon.

“Police has arrested 6 members and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami Chandpur district including district’s secretary Maulana Billal Hossain Miaji in order to harass them politically.

It is really painful and unfortunate that ahead of the ensuing holy occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, police are arresting members and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami around the country without any reason.

When the peoples are taking preparation to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha along with the family, in such a time, through such arrest incidents, police are actually depriving them from the festivity and joy of this occasion. Such a fascist actions of the government is inhuman. I am calling upon my fellow citizens of the country to stand against such fascist activities of the incumbent authoritarian government.

Finally, I am urging the concerned authorities to release all the detained activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including Chandpur district’s Secretary Maulana Billal Hossain Miaji prior to Eid-ul-Azha.”
