Central Mahlish-e-Shura and other committees reconstituted

Jamaat Ameer calls for massive movement to free the nation from misrule and chaos

-Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

A meeting of central Majlish-e-Shura of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami was held on 2nd December with party’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman in the chair. Nayeb-e-Ameer, Secretary General, Secretary General, Assistant Secretary General, central executive committee, and central working committee were constituted in today’s sessions.

For 2023-25 session, Professor Mujibur Rahman, Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, and Maulana ANM Shamsul Islam were elected as Nayeb-e-Ameer. Professor Mia Golam Porwar was elected as the Secretary General. Whereas Maulana ATM Masum, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Hamidur Rahman Azad, Maulana Abdul Halim, Advocate Moazzem Hossain Helal, Maulana Md. Shahjahan and Advocate Ahsanul Mahaboob Zubayer became elected as the Assistant Secretary General. For the 2023-24 session, Advocate Matiur Rahman Akanda was given the charge of the central publicity and media secretary.

In the program, Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman addressed the Shura session about the overall situation of the country.

Focusing on the existing political crisis, financial mismanagement, price hike of the essentials, anarchy in the education sector, and people’s unbearable suffering due to water, gas, and power crisis, Jamaat Ameer stated that, a free, fair, and participatory election should be held under caretaker government to free the nation from the ongoing unbearable situation.

He further said Bangladesh is a Muslim-majority country. So, an Islamic influence is supposed to be prevailing in the national lives. But now, the entire nation has been engulfed by anti-Islamic activities. The prophets worked to secure the victory of Islam according to the rules, fixed by Almighty Allah. Jamaat-e-Islami is also following in the same footsteps. With the passing of time, Jamaat has become a bigger organization.

Addressing the leaders, he said, you have taken the oath to fulfill your promises. Our seniors and previous leaders had performed their duties successfully and honestly which helped Jamaat-e-Islami to become a trustworthy organization. Similarly, the present leaders have to conduct their duties as well. Allah has blessed us with faith. We have to work for around 180 million people in the country. We have to make this doctrine as the ultimate target and mission of life. We have to work for our families and society. Ill cultures, drug addiction, and immoralities are destroying the country’s youth. We should play an active role to save our youth from these malpractices. We have to make efforts to consolidate our families too.

Jamaat Ameer said, people have no rights today. The authoritarian regim has seized public rights away in last 14 years. The economic system has been ruined as well. One after one mega projects have been undertaken to facilitate corruption and irregularities. The corrupted personnel created Begum Para in Candada, second home in Malaysia and luxerious home in Dubai and Singapore. They are now trying to destory Islami Bank by the means of looting and embezzlement.

Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited, which has attained outstanding success in the banking sector in Bangladesh and in the Muslim world is now a victim of a severe conspiracy. Based on the hard work and assistance of the depositors and entrepreneurs, Islami Bank has been functioning successfully for the last 40 years. Islami Bank also became one of the best banks among the top thousand banks in the world.

Islami Bank is the biggest economic institution in the country. Islamist people have preserved the deposits of the people with the highest sincerity. As such the government’s effort of looting money will never be accepted by the depositors, shareholders, and customers of this bank. We all should work hard to save money. Instead of becoming panicky or withdrawing the deposited money or transferring shares, we all should try to tackle the situation collectively.

The regulator including Bangladesh Bank, and the finance ministry should clarify their role to check the looting of this bank. The offenders and concerned bank officials should be brought to justice as well.

Jamaat Ameer said a severe chaotic situation is prevailing in the country. Political parties are not allowed to speak out. The constitutional right to protest misdeeds has been taken away. The nation has been made economically crippled. We have to establish a people’s government to free the nation from such anarchy. To do so, we should make a unified effort to bring back the caretaker government system in order to hold a free, fair, and credible election. We should make all-out resistance against all evil plots to restore civil rights. I am urging my fellow countrymen to take part in this movement wholeheartedly and sincerely.
