24 drown as boat capsizes in Korotoa river in Panchagarh; Jamaat Ameer condoles

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following message of condolence on 25th September 2022 as at least 24 people drowned after a boat capsized in the Korotoa river in Panchagarh's Boda upazila this afternoon (September 25, 2022).

In the condolence message, Jamaat Ameer stated that At least 24 people drowned after a boat carrying over 100 passengers capsized in the Korotoa river in Panchagarh's Boda upazila. The engine-run boat capsized near Awalia ghat under Maria union around 1:30 pm when it was heading towards Bodeshari Hindu temple under Borososhi union. Among the deceased, there are 8 kids, 12 women, and 4 males. I am expressing deep shock at this accident. The losses of lives and casualties of this accident will never be fulfilled easily. We hope the victim families will be able to overcome this shock shortly. I am expecting quick recovery of the injured and urging the concerned authorities to take effective steps to ensure proper medical treatment of the injured.
