Jamaat Ameer distributes foods and gift items among flood victims of Balaganj Upazila under Sylhet district

-Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said Almighty Allah assisted His favorite servants in conducting humanitarian activities. We believe that we are getting Allah’s blessing in every moment and as such we are expressing our deep gratitude to Him. This time flood has begun on the 16th of June and the northern part of Sylhet and Sunamganj were devastated by this natural catastrophe. Almighty Allah blesses Sunamganj to produce 26 percent of the total food crops of this country. So, we are realizing that the impact of this flood will not cause a crisis only for Sunamganj, but for the whole nation as well. Watching the face of the flood victims, we felt that they are not in such a mentality to take shelter in the shelter center. But they have to take shelter over there now and this is reality. Their current lifestyle is really painful.

Jamaat Ameer said this while distributing foods and other gift items among the flood victims of different areas under Balaganj Upazila of the Sylhet district. For the 7th consecutive day, Jamaat Ameer met the victims and provided them assistance. He visited several villages under Boaljur union, Balaganj Sadar union, and Poilonpur union today.

Addressing the gathering, Jamaat Ameer further said that, we had tried our level best. However, we had some limitations. So, we could not reach all on time. We are hopeful that Allah will forgive us. We have tried to be on your side with our highest capacities. However, we could not support 33 lakh people of Sunamganj district. We are not that capable. It is easier to distribute food among people but really difficult to rehabilitate them. We do not make any difference and discrimination irrespective of religions and faiths. Those who are more affected will get our assistance on a priority basis. It is our obligation and duty to honor people. So, it is our humble appeal to everybody, please come to help humanity putting aside all differences.

Among others, Jamaat’s central working committee member and Comilla city Jamaat Ameer Kazi Deen Mohammad, central Majlish-e-Shura member and Lakhipur district Ameer Master Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan, Sylhet south district’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and Dokhin Surma Upazila’s former chairman Maulana Lokman Ahmed, Noakhali district Secretary Nizam Uddin Faruquee, Brahmanbaria district Secretary Mobarak Hossain, Sylhet south district’s Assistant Secretary and Fenchuganj Upazila’s former chairman Saifullah Al Hossain, district South’s Shura and working committee member Abdus Sattar, Balaganj Upazila Ameer Dr. Mohammad Abdul Jalil, Sylhet city Chhatrashibir’s former President Mamun Hossain, Jillul Haque Chowdhury and others were present on the occasion.
