Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said, Jamaat-e-Islami has been experiencing unprecedented tortures and repression for the last 12 years. The main reason for such oppression was to stop our welfare activities. We are not submissive to any human being, we are only loyal to Almighty Allah and keep all trust in Him. As such, despite tortures and crackdowns, Jamaat’s welfare activities will continue in the upcoming days.
He said this while distributing financial assistance among the fire victims of Kaptan Bazar in a city auditorium on Sunday. Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka city South arranged the program. Central Executive committee member and Dhaka city South Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul presided over the program. South City Secretary and Jamaat’s central working committee member Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud hosted the event. Dhaka city South Assistant Secretary Md. Delwar Hossain, working committee member Abdus Sabur Fakir, Kamal Hossain, Wari west thana Ameer Kamrul Ahsan Hasan addressed the program. Dhaka south city Jamaat’s working committee member Hafizur Rahman, city South Majlish-e-Shura member S M Ahsan Ullah, Paltana North thana Ameer Shahin Ahmed Khan and Wari east thana Ameer Mohtasim Billah and others were present on the occasion.
Jamaat Ameer said, we are facing severe adversities in the last decade. The authority tried to subdue our voices and activities. Our offices are still sealed. 11 top leaders are no more with us. 5 top leaders have been executed. Many leaders and activists have lost their organs. More than 5 thousand activists became crippled. 1.7 million leaders and activists have faced imprisonment. However, we have full trust and confidence in Allah. We are and will be by the side of the repressed people. We have to hold patience during this crucial time.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, we are not discriminating against people. Rather, we are working for the entire population. Efforts are going on to impose slavery upon the people. It should be changed. People’s fate is to be dictated on the basis of the Quran. The rulers of the country were not fearful of Allah and this is why they can make huge corruptions and irregularities. We want our fellow Islamic forces to come together. Inshallah, if we can make a combined effort, Islam will be victorious on this land.
Nurul Islam Bulbul said, Jamaat-e-Islami has been working based on 4 points. One of the party strategies is to ensure reform and welfare of the society. Jamaat activists are social activists. As such we are trying to serve people in danger.
It should be mentioned that, on last 8 January, a massive fire took place in Kaptan Bazar of Wari of the capital. Hundreds of shops were gutted in this fire accident. Subsequently, the shop owners are passing terribly helpless days. Considering their crisis, Jamaat distributed financial assistance among 56 victim shop owners.
