Jamaat Ameer remembers Mir Quasem Ali and his contribution for the nation and the Islamic movement

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 2 September 2021 recalling the contribution of Jamaat’s central executive committee’s former member, noted entrepreneur, social worker and media personality Mir Quasem Ali.

Mir Quasem Ali has struggled throughout his life to build a happy, prosperous and Islamic welfare state. He was the founding central President of Bangladesh IslamiChhatrashibir. He played pro-active role in establishing numerous Islamic and welfare institutions including Islami Banks, insurance, Mosques, Madrasa and etc. He has taken unique initiative to reach healthcare at the door steps of the poor people with limited cost. The people of the country will remember him always.

He was sued with a false case of crimes against humanity just because of his involvement with the Islamic movement. The authority has sentenced him to death in this case. The prosecution could not prove any of the charges brought against him. He had been made deprived from getting justice. He was executed on 3rd September of 2016.

He had initiated welfare activities which will continue to expand Insha Allah. He will remain alive through his activities. We are praying to Allah sincerely for accepting him as a martyr and also to grant Jannah for this renowned personality.

We would like to add with a broken heart that, some plain cloth dressed people, claiming themselves as the law enforcers abducted his son Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem Arman on 9th August of 2016. Till now, he is traceless. His two kids have been waiting for the return of their beloved father. Barrister Arman was discharging duty as the defence lawyer of his father. Mir Quasem Ali’s family is a victim of government’s political vengeance. May Allah allow this family to hold patience.

I am urging all leaders and activists of this organization and the fellow countrymen to move forward so that we can complete his unfinished tasks.”
