Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman issued the following condolence message on January 8 expressing deep condolences over the earthquake that killed 126 people and injured 188 and destroyed more than 1,000 houses in Tibet, China on January 7.

“On behalf of myself and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, I express deep condolences over the massive earthquake that killed 126 people and injured 188 and destroyed more than 1,000 houses in Tibet, China on January 7. Like the people of Tibet, the people of Bangladesh are also deeply saddened by this tragic incident. I hope that the Chinese government and the people of Tibet will be able to overcome this huge loss of life and property soon.

"I express my condolences to the families and relatives of all those who died in this earthquake and to the Chinese government, and I express my deepest condolences to all those who were injured and affected, and I wish their speedy recovery."
