Engineer Gias Uddin, a senior member (Rukn) of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the central president of the Forum of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh, passed away on January 2 at 5:30 PM at the age of 68 due to a brain stroke (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji'un). He has left his wife, four sons, two daughters, and numerous relatives.
Condolence Message
Expressing deep sorrow over Engineer Gias Uddin's passing, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman issued the following message of condolence on January 3.
In his message, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, "Engineer Gias Uddin served as the president of the Forum of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh with tireless dedication and maternal care. Despite extreme adversities, he performed his responsibilities with utmost sincerity. He was truly the heart of the Forum. I express profound grief over his demise."
He further added, "May Allah (SWT) forgive him, bestow mercy upon him, and widen his grave. May Allah forgive his sins, transform them into virtues, and make every stage of the Hereafter easy, comfortable, and blessed for him. May Allah grant him a high rank in Jannah and provide strength to his grieving family, loved ones, and colleagues to endure this loss."
Funeral and Burial
The first funeral prayer for Engineer Gias Uddin was held on January 2 at 9:15 PM at the IES School grounds in Uttara, Dhaka, led by Ameer-e-Jamaat, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. The second prayer took place on January 3 after Jumu'ah at his ancestral home in Tupamari, Nilphamari district, followed by his burial in the family graveyard. Assistant Secretary General and Director of the Rangpur-Dinajpur region, Maulana Abdul Halim, led the second prayer.

Engineer Gias Uddin was a dedicated soul for the Islamic movement
Maulana Abdul Halim, Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, stated that the late Engineer Gias Uddin was a devoted, pious, and dedicated leader of the organization. Despite holding significant responsibilities, he showed no greed for wealth and remained committed to his duties.
Speaking before the second funeral prayer, Maulana Halim further remarked:
"it is rare to find individuals who are not only knowledgeable but also obedient and virtuous. He further noted Engineer Gias Uddin's contributions to the development of diploma engineers and the nation, emphasizing his vision for a new and prosperous Bangladesh.
"We have lost a beloved servant of Allah. May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus and give his grieving family the strength to bear this loss," he prayed.
The second funeral prayer at the Tupamari Eidgah field saw participation from numerous individuals from different walks of life. Among them, there were Nilphamari District Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, Principal Abdus Sattar, district Secretary Antazul Islam, district Nayeb-e-Ameer Dr. Khairul Anam, Central Vice President of the Forum of Diploma Engineers Engineer Mizanur Rahman, General Secretary of the Forum Zainal Abedin, and son of the deceased Minarul Haq.
