Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman expressed deep grief and condolence and issued the following message of condolence on 19th October, 2024 over the brutal killing of Yahya Sinwar, head of the Political Bureau of Palestinian Resistance Movement, Hamas.
On October 18, the Arabic International Newspaper Ashrak al-Awsat confirmed the news of the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, citing Khalil al-Haiya, the deputy head of Hamas in Gaza. Sinwar was announced as the supreme leader of the party as the successor of the former political bureau chief Ismail Haniyah who was killed in Tehran on August 6. Israeli attempts to kill Sinwar have failed several times. Finally, he was killed in an Israeli strike in Gaza on October 17.
Yahya Sinwar was born in 1962 in Khan Yunis refugee camp in Gaza. Following the creation of Israel by UN vote in 1948, Sinwar's family were forcefully expelled from Majdal Asqalan and subsequently to move to Khan Yunis, Gaza. They started life there as refugees. Sinwar spent 22 years of his life in Israeli prisons. He was released in 2011 through a prisoner exchange deal. In 2017, he became the head of the Gaza branch of Hamas. After the martyrdom of Ismail Haniya in July this year, he was given the responsibility of the main leader of Hamas. He sacrificed his life by fighting till the last breath as a hero for the freedom of Palestine. All freedom-seeking organizations and Muslim Ummah will remember his sacrifice with deep respect. His martyrdom deeply saddens me.
In his condolence, he said, I seek forgiveness for his soul and pray to Almighty Allah to accept him as a martyr. May Allah Almighty accept all the good deeds of his life and grant him a high place in Jannah and grant his grieving family and fellow soldiers the patience and forbearance to bear this grief, Ameen.
