Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following message of condolence on 19th March 2022 expressing deep shock at the death of former President of Bangladesh and former Chief Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed.

Former chief justice Shahabuddin Ahmed led the first caretaker government of Bangladesh. On 6th December of 1990, he took oath as the President of Bangladesh and presented a fair, credible,and participatory election.

Following the 5th national election held on 27th February of 1991, Justice Shahabuddin returned to his office of the Chief Justice. He was elected President by Awami League in their tenure from 1996 to 2001. He retired from the office of the President on 14th November of 2001.

The nation lost a generous, democratic, sincere, and patriot guardian at his demise. The nation will remember his sincere and outstanding roles. May Allah accept all his noble deeds and reward him for his efficiency.

I am extending sympathy to his saddened family. May Allah help them to bear the shock of this painful moment.
