Egypt’s leading Muslim scholar Ahmed Taha Rayan dies; Jamaat Ameer condoles

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following message of condolence on 18 February 2021 at the death of world-renowned Islamic scholar and a member of the Council of Senior Clerics at Al Azhar University of Egypt, Shaikh Ahmed Taha Rayan.

Globally recognized Islamic scholar, member of the Council of Senior Clerics at Al Azhar University of Egypt and former dean of University’s Fiqh and Islamic jurisprudence Department died on 17 February, at the age of 81 due to complications from COVID-19 that he had contracted days earlier. Innalillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun. He had been a member of Al Azhar’s Council of Senior Scholars since 2012. The Muslim Ummah has lost an outstanding and distinguished scholar, top religious personality and a preacher of Islam at his demise. I am expressing deep shock at his death and extending compassion and sympathy to his mournful family, relatives and spiritual followers.

May Allah accept all his noble deeds to bless him with Jannah. Ameen.
