BNP leader and former state minister AKM Mosharraf Hossain dies; Secretary General condoles

Police bars people to attend his funeral; Golam Porwar condemns

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar has issued the following statement on 19 October 2020 expressing deep condolence at the death former state minister AKM Mosharraf Hossain and simultaneously protesting the hindrance which have been created in his funeral prayer.

BNP Chairperson’s advisor and former state minister for Energy and Mineral Resources AKM Mosharraf Hossain died in Lab Aid Hospital of the city on last 17 October. He served the nation as BCIC Chairman, Secretary to the Ministry of Industries and state minister for Petroleum, Energy and Mineral Resources. He played significant role in the democratic movements of the country. He also worked hard to facilitate the development in the greater Mymensingh region. The nation lost a patriot politician at his demise. I am expressing deep shock at his death and offering prayer for his departed soul. I am also extending sympathy to his mournful families, relatives, well-wishers and party men.

I am also condemning the police’s move as they barred the people to attend his funeral in Mymensingh town’s Anjuman-e-Eidgah and Muktagacha municipality. It is not decent for the police forces to make such indecent and unexpected actions centering the funeral of a deceased man.
