Jamaat-e-Islami declares 48 hour nationwide blockade on 22nd and 23rd November

-Maulana ATM Masum

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Acting Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 20th November, 2023 declaring nationwide 48 hour long blockade on 22nd and 23rd November, Wednesday and Thursday.

The incumbent government is mulling to remain in office by staging a farcical election. The government has made the nation subservient, invalid and functionally failed in order to hold office forcefully. As such, the independence and sovereignty is under threat.

To free the nation from this situation, on behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, I am declaring nationwide blockade of road, railway and naval routes from 22nd November Wednesday 6am to 24th November, Friday 6 am for 48 hours protesting the perverse judgment that cancelled the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami, and one-sided declaration of election schedule and simultaneously demanding immediate resignation of the government, restoration of the caretaker government system, release of Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, other political detainees and religious scholars, withdrawal of false cases and for bringing the prices of essentials within people's capacity.

I am urging the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and the fellow countrymen to make the declared blockade programs successful.
