Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 17th July, 2024 demanding immediate release of Bogra city Jamaat Ameer Principal Abidur Rahman Sohel, Secretary Professor A S M Abdul Malek and 2 other detainees.

Bogra city Jamaat Ameer Principal Abidur Rahman Sohel, Secretary Professor A S M Abdul Malek, Bogra Upashahar Thana Ameer Abdul Hamid Begh and Bogra city Chhatrashibir’s former president Delwar Hossain had secured bail in advance from the High Court in connection with the false cases, filed against them. Today, they went to the lower court for securing bail. But the court denied the plea and sent them to jail. I am condemning this incident.

Bogra city Jamaat leaders are being harassed as they have been sent to jail in some false cases. Such political harassment is clear violation of rule of law and human rights.

I am urging the concerned authorities to show respect toward the order of the High Court and to release all the detainees including Principal Abidur Rahman Sohel immediately.
