Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Acting Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 9th November 2023 declaring pyayer program for the victims who have become killed and injured in last couple of days while observing the opposition-called programs and simultaneously urging to observe nationwide blockade on 12th and 13th November demanding immediate stepdown of the government, release of Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and all other political detainees, withdrawal of false cases and for bringing the prices of the essentials within people's capacity.

"The incumbent government has been conducting repression against the people for last 15 years. Their misrule and injustices have engulfed the nation. The government has destroyed democracy and all democratic institutions of the country. They have launched authoritarian rule and seized people's rights away including their voting rights and rights to hold procession and rallies.

The fascist government also realized that they became detached from the people and it is not possible for them to come back office with people's mandate. Having such fear, the government has misused its power to abolish caretaker government system and closed all doors for expanding democracy. We want to warn the government saying that the people have become aware of their rights. They are taking part in the opposition-declared programs spontaneously. They are expressing resentment against the misrule of the government. So, try to understand the reality and stepdown immediately. Handover power to the caretaker government for holding free and fair election. Otherwise you have take the responsibility for all untoward consequences.

To give a chance to the people so that they can complete their emergency activities, we are giving two-days break in our programs. On behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, I am declaring pyayer program for the victims who have become killed and injured in last couple of days while observing the opposition-called programs and simultaneously urging to observe nationwide 48-hour long blockade from 12th November 6 am to 14th November 6 am demanding immediate stepdown of the government, release of Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and all other political detainees, withdrawal of false cases and for bringing the prices of the essentials within people's capacity. I am urging the party leaders and activists and the fellow countrymen to make the declared programs successful.
