Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad has issued the following statement on 2nd November, 2023 expressing deep concern about the comments and remarks of various law enforcement agencies in which they have anticipated anarchy and sabotage during the blockade program of the opposition parties.

While talking to various media, news portal and national dailies, officials of multiple law enforcement agencies have anticipated anarchy and sabotage during the blockade program of the opposition parties. Their prediction has created severe panic and fear among the people. The comments of the spokesmen of these agencies are nothing but attempts to cause panic. We are expressing our deep concern in this regard.

In a democratic country, the citizens get the chance to express their views and demands by holding meeting, processions and rallies. Peaceful strike is also regarded as a lawful program in all democratic movements. It is the constitutional rights of the citizens to exercise such right. Jamaat-e-Islami and all other opposition parties are observing peaceful and democratic programs for securing democracy and voting rights. We want to assure the countrymen by saying that Jamaat is a democratic and systematic political party. Jamaat-e-Islami do not believe in any sorts of anarchy, sabotage or subversive activities.

Earlier, many negative predictions were also made centering the Jamaat declared grand rally of 28th October. Despite such assumptions, Jamaat’s program have been implemented successfully and peacefully. No one actually believes the nexus between the alleged anarchy and Jamaat-e-Islami. The countrymen and different democratic nations around the world also consider Jamaat as a systematic and democratic party. So, people can never be made confused by carrying out such intentional propaganda against Jamaat-e-Islami.

We think, the government will prove their good intention by not pushing the nation toward violence and anarchy anymore and will take effective measures for creating a healthy and safe atmosphere to pave the way for a smooth, free, fair and credible election.
