Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 2nd November 2023 appreciating the countrymen for making opposition parties declared 3-day long blockade successful and simultaneously declaring new programs as the continuation of the ongoing movement.

Police are conducting raids in the houses of the opposition leaders and activists. If they do not find the targeted man during the raid, they are not delaying to harass the other members of the family which is inhuman and unprecedented. Police arrested Khulna city Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary Advocate Shah Alam while he was departing the court area today. Police also arrested over 100 Jamaat leaders and activists from various places of the country in last 24 hours. I am condemning all these arrest drives. The government has turned the country into a massive prison. But they will not be able to subdue the movement by the means of repression and torture.

Ignoring the threats, intimidation and mass arrest of the government, the countrymen successfully observed the blockade program and thus expressed their no confidence upon the government. Along with the law enforcers, the ruling party cadres have murdered and assaulted people. But they could not foil the opposition’s program. These incidents proved that the people are not afraid of repression and torture anymore. Jamaat and the other opposition party activists will not return home until their demands are not met.

Jamaat declares new programs

Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana ATM Masum said, the incumbent tyrant regime is plotting conspiracy to come back to the power by rigging and intimidation. Just to hold office, the government has turned this nation into a subservient and failed nation and as such country’s independence and sovereignty are under threat. Under the circumstances, I am declaring special prayer program on 3rd November and 48 hours of blockade from 5th November 6 am to 7th November 6 am demanding the immediate resignation of the government for facilitating a free, fair, participatory and credible election under the non-party caretaker government, release of Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and other political leaders and activists, and seeking salvation for all the departed souls who have been killed during the last couple of days and simultaneously praying for quick recovery of the injured. I am urging the party leaders and activists and also the countrymen to observe the declared programs peacefully.
