Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 31st October 2023 expressing deep concern over the deteriorating law and order situation of the country.
Law and order situation has deteriorated in the country alarmingly in recent times. People are suffering from severe insecurity. Public lives and properties are not secured at all. On last 29th October, at 11.45 pm, the miscreants have killed Dr. Golam Kazem Ali (42) while he was returning home from his chamber in Laxmipur of Rajshahi city. Earlier, at 8 pm on the same night, homeopathy doctor Ershad Ali Dulal (45) was murdered in the city haat area of Rajshahi city. These incidents proved that law and order situation have deteriorated severely. I am expressing deep shock over these two murder incidents.
There is no rule of law and justice in the country. The countrymen have lost its total trust and confidence upon the judiciary. Extremely tensed situation is prevailing in the country now. This is the consequence of the absence of justice for a long time. The incidents of brutal murders have caused anxiety among the people. Instead of tolerance and humanly behavior, people are violating the law which is matter of great concern. According to the view of the social scientists, criminal tendency hikes if there is a lacking of rule of law.
I am urging the government to ensure safety to the public lives, properties and dignities in order to bring back trust on the law. I am praying to Allah seeking salvation of the two deceased victims who have been murdered by the miscreants and also extending my sympathy to their mournful families.
