Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following message of condolence on 14th September 2023 as at least 20 thousands people killed and many others went missing in a severe cyclone and subsequent flooding in Libya.

Libya has been experiencing post cyclone flooding since last 9th August. So far, more than 20 thousands people have been killed and many are still missing. Lots of houses and crops fields have been destroyed. On behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the people of Bangladesh, we are expressing deep shock and extending sympathy to the Libyan government and citizens.

I am praying to Allah seeking salvation for the departed souls and extending sympathy to their mournful families. May Allah bless the Libyan people and the government to overcome the losses. Ameen.
