Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s central Majlish-e-Shura member and Satkhira district Jamaat Ameer Muhaddith Rabiul Bashar issued the following statement on 30th August 2023 protesting and condemning the recent ill-efforts as several media portrayed Ziaur Rahman alias Afghan Zia, arrested from Keraniganj of Dhaka as a Jamaat cadre.

Police arrested Ziaur Rahman alias Afghan Zia from Keraniganj of Dhaka on 28th August. Several media also termed him as dangerous Jamaat cadre which is really painful. We want to assert that, Jamaat has no relation with this Ziaur Rahman, hailed from Shakhipur union of Debhata Upazila under Satkhira district. He was not a cadre of Jamaat-e-Islami. We are vehemently condemning the media reports which termed him as Jamaat cadre.

He further stated that Jamaat-e-Islami is a democratic and systematic party. Jamaat has been conducting its political activities as per the constitution. Jamaat is doing explicit politics. Jamaat has its functional activities in all districts, Upazila, unions and villages. Jamaat is openly operating its political activities. Jamaat had no nexus with militancy. Jamaat is trying to spread knowledge among the people based on the faith of Ahl-Sunnah wal Jammah. There is no presence of bigotry and extremism in any literature of Jamaat-e-Islami. Centering the verdict of Allama Delwar Hossain Saydee on 28th February of 2013, Jamaat activities did not make any violence in Satkhira or any other places of the country. The people can never be made confused by terming Jamaat as a fanatic party.

I am urging the concerned TV channel and online news portals to be refrained from making intentional propaganda against Jamaat-e-Islami.
