Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Maqbul Ahmad has issued the following statement on 9 September 2019 marking 10th Muharram, the holy Ashura day.
The Day of Ashura is very important and significant to the Muslim communities across the globe. Almighty Allah has created the earth on this day and these vast creatures will be destroyed on the same day as well. The day is highly significant as the first human being, Adam (A) was created on this day. The historic flood during the tenure of Prophet Noah came to an end on this day. Father of the Muslim Ummah, Hazrat Ibrahim (A) got released from the furnace of tyrant Namrud. Prophet Younis (A) became freed from the stomach of a giant fish on this day. Prophet Aiyub (A) had been truly cured from his diseases on this day. Almighty Allah destroyed tyrant Pharaoh and his forces on this day. Prophet Yakub(A) also got back his son Prophet Yousuf (A) on this very day. Prophet Issa (A) was born on this day and he was taken back to the sky on this day too.
On this Ashura day, Imam Hossain (RA), the grand-son of Prophet Muhammad (pbuH) was brutally murdered on the Karbala ground. This is one of the most significant events in the history of Islam. The Muslims from all over the world, recall this tragic incident till now with due sympathy and heart-breaking pains.
Hazrat Hossain (RA) and his families had sacrificed their lives on this day in order to protest against the tyranny and injustices. He accepted martyrdom to uphold the spirit of the holy Prophet (pbuH) and his subsequent 4 rightly guided caliphs. The tragic event of Karbala took place as our leaders denied to compromise with the tyrant authorities. The Karbala tragedy inspires us to continue strive and struggle against all sorts of falsehood, injustice and oppressions.
The discussion of Ashura will be successful and at the same time, we could pay our highest tribute to the martyrdom of Imam Hossain (RA) if we can launch a broad-base movement and sincere efforts against injustices, evil deeds, falsehood, oppression, tortures, and undemocratic authoritarian regimes.
