Meeting of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s election management committee held

A meeting of the National Election Management Committee of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, in connection with the 13th National Parliamentary Election–2026, was held this evening, Friday, 9 January, at the party’s central office. The meeting was chaired by the President of the National Election Management Committee, Maulana ATM Masum. The Member Secretary of the committee, Maulana Abdul Halim, conducted the meeting. Members of the committee were present at that time.

The meeting began with the recitation from the Holy Quran by committee member Maulana AFM Abdus Sattar.

The opening speech was delivered by the respected President of the committee, Maulana ATM Masum. In the meeting, several sub-committees were formed and responsibilities were distributed among the concerned persons with a view to further accelerating the election management activities. At the same time, a decision was taken to include a few more members in order to strengthen the activities of the committee.

The meeting stated that equal opportunity or a “level playing field” for all political parties does not exist in the upcoming national parliamentary election. In such a situation, it is not possible to hold a free, fair, and acceptable election. The speakers said that the nation has still not received justice for Osman Hadi. There has been no visible progress in eliminating terrorism in the country, and incidents of killing are continuing. Yet, no significant success is being observed in the recovery of illegal arms.

The meeting further said that some recent incidents prove that the administration is leaning towards one side, which is in no way desirable. This tendency must be stopped. To ensure a free and fair election, effective measures must be taken to arrest identified terrorists and to recover illegal arms.
