Jamaat Ameer exchanges view with the principals and other teachers of the flood-affected Qawmi Madrasa

Our struggle is not political; it is a fight between the Islamic and patriotic forces and the establishments- says Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

As a part of the party’s social welfare activities, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has handed over financial assistance for the second time to the principals of 24 flood-affected Qawmi Madrasa, situated in Sylhet district town, Kompaniganj, Goainghat, Jointapur, Kanaighat, and Jokeyganj.

Jamaat Ameer at that time visted 5 Madrasas of Sylhet Sadar, 5 Madrasa of Kanaighat Upazila, one Madrasa of Kanaighat municipality, 5 Madrasa of Jointapur Upazila, 3 of Goaighat Upazila, two Madrasa of Jokeyganj Upazila and 3 flood-affected Madrasa of Kompaniganj Upazila. During this visit, Jamaat Ameer exchanged views with the Madrasa principals and teachers. Jamaat Ameer also prayed to Allah to fill up the losses that occurred to the educational institutions during the latest flood. Besides, he prayed to Allah for these Madrasas so that these noble institutions can play effective roles to spread Islamic education in society.

During this visit, Jamaat's Assistant Secretary General Advocate Ahasanul Mahabub Zubayer, Sylhet north district Ameer Hafez Maulana Anwar Hossain Khan, Nayeb-e-Ameer Vice-Principal Maulana Foizullah Bahar, Sylhet city Jamaat Secretary Shahjahan Ali, district secretary and former chairman of Jointapur upazila Zainal Abedin, Assistant Secretary Maulana Islam Uddin and other district level leaders were present.

Jamaat Ameer stated that I have not witnessed such a devastating flood never in my life. This is a nation-state. According to the constitution, the government is the real guardian of this state. Particularly in danger, the countrymen expect a guardianship role from the government. But as the incumbent government is not an elected government as such it did not respond to the public call. The losses and casualties are so huge that an individual or party cannot fill up the losses. Only Allah can help us. However, the government has some responsibilities as well.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said Jamaat-e-Islami is a persecuted organization. We are not allowed to serve the people or to work comfortably. We have been taken to the execution state, or being murdered, or putting us inside prison. They attacked us to destroy our sustenance and also damaged us physically. When Jamaat faced repression, its impact was not clear to the people. Rather, the people have been made entrapped by false propaganda. People considered those heinous activities as political initiatives or political struggles. But our struggle is not political; it is a fight between the Islamic and patriotic forces and the establishments. They will not spare any person of good faith. Many religious scholars have been made imprisoned. Some of them got released but the majority of them are still being kept detained.

Jamaat Ameer said, in a society that detains religious scholars and indulges criminals, that society does not get a blessing from Allah. We have to fight against the tyrannical forces altogether. We are not afraid of torture and repression. We are not frustrated. Faithful people become interested to become a martyr as it is the best format of death.
