Jamaat Ameer distributes food and other gift items among Golapganj Upazila’s flood victims

It is our religious obligation to stand by the side of the people in this critical condition. You have the right to receive services from the people of Bangladesh. But as I have hailed from this land, so you have more rights to me. We saw the severity of this flood. We met a mother who had lost her son during this calamity. The recent flood made a disastrous impact on the people of this region. Water has entered the house of the locals. People had no shelter.

Everybody burst into tears losing their near and dear ones and other belongings. You are our brother and sister. We do not want to discriminate based on religion or faith or creed. The crisis has appeared for everyone irrespective of their position and status. The people who practice divide and rule policy even in crisis, are not good human beings. We could not establish communication with the people of remote areas but we had tried our best to do so. But there are authorities, who have better means to communicate. We have MPs and ministers. We have a disaster management and relief minister. But why he did not come here is not clear. We want a nation where people will get their dignity, honor, and due services. May Allah bless us to make our dream come true.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said this while distributing food and other gift items among the flood victims of Golapganj Upazila under Sylhet district on 12th July. He conducted distribution activities among flood victims in Golapganj Upazila’s Badepasha union, Sharifganj union and Vadeshor union.

Among others, Jamaat’s central executive committee member and Dhaka city North Ameer Muhammad Selim Uddin, central Majlish-e-Shura member and Sylhet district south Ameer Principal Abdul Hannan, central Majlish-e-Shura member and Sylhet city Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Sohel Ahmed, Sramik Kollan Federation Sylhet district’s Vice-President Peyar Uddin Ahmed, Sylhet south district secretary Nazrul Islam, Assistant Secretary Hafiz Nazmul Islam, Sylhet east district Chhatrashibir President Mohibullah, Golapganj Upazila Ameer Maulana Zamir Uddin and local Jamaat and Chhatrashibir leaders were present on the occasion.

Jamaat Ameer said no one can play with this nation anymore. No one can deceive this nation. A welfare state will be established through the individual, who feels the pulse of the people. We will work altogether and will continue our effort to establish public rights. We will be aware of ensuring our rights as well.

Addressing the gathering, Jamaat Ameer further said, we want such a rule, such a ruler and government staff- who will fulfill people’s rights, discharge their duties wholeheartedly and seek mercy and strength from Allah. Because of such struggles, our leaders had to embrace martyrdom, our brothers became the victim of enforced disappearances and we had to go through torture and immense repression. I am making a vow that Jamaat will never leave you keeping you in such a deplorable state. We will not give up even a single inch of this land. We do not want to see bribery, nepotism, and corruption and this is our crime. We will respond to these crimes and irregularities by establishing Islam.
