Flood situation deteriorates in Jamalpur; Jamaat leaders visit the areas

The flood situation has severely deteriorated in Dewanganj, Islampur Upazila, and other parts of Jamalpur district due to water overflow and torrential rains. A massive quantity of juts have been damaged, and many houses, shops, and guts have been destroyed. Road communications are almost disrupted. All educational institutions have been declared closed. People in these areas have left homes and started to take shelter in shelter centers.

A delegation led by the Central organizing secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami and party’s coordinator doe Mymensingh region Dr. Samiul Haque Faruqee visited the flood-affected areas of Islampur on 20th June. He also took information about the latest flood situation of Upazila’s Shapdhori, Noarpara, Belgasa, and Kulkandi union and outlined the relief distribution activities for those areas.

Among others, Jamaat’s central Majlish-e-Shura member and Jamalpur district Ameer Advocate Nazmul Haq Sayedee, Islampur Upazila Ameer Maulana Khandakar Liakat Ali, Upazila secretary Maulana Amzad Hossain, Islami Chhatrashibir’s Upazila President Nazrul Islam were present at that time.

Regarding the flood situation, Jamaat leaders also exchanged views with the Shapdhori union’s recently elected chairman Shah Alam Mandal and Chinaduli union chairman Abdus Salam. Jamaat leaders also addressed the gathering on multiple occasions. Dr. Samiul Haq Faruqee urged the government to ensure relief distribution for the victims and called for proper disaster management. He also called upon the victims to hold patience and also to pray to Almighty Allah seeking blessings to get rid of this flood situation.
