Monday, 19 December 2016

Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maqbul Ahmad has sent a letter to the honorable President of the Peoples of Bangladesh on 19th December to allow Jamaat-e-Islami for taking part in the ongoing dialogue. In the letter he stated that,

“It is highly important to form a neutral election commission for holding a free, fair, credible and participatory election. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami welcomes and wishes all out success of your great initiative for holding a dialogue in order to fix a search committee for making an election commission that you have taken as the guardian of the state.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is one of the largest party which has regular representation in the parliament. Since the independence, it had parliamentary representatives in all the parliament. A significant number of Jamaat nominated candidates have won in all the local government elections including the city corporation, municipality polls, Upazila and Union council elections. Besides, Jamaat has played a pivotal role in all the democratic and systematic movements so far.

Jamaat-e-Islami is a registered political party. The case, related to the Jamaat registration, is pending in the honorable Appellate Division. Naturally, Jamaat has a genuine right to participate in the ongoing dialogue as a true representative of the people.

As one of the largest Democratic Party, it is reasonable for Jamaat-e-Islami to get the opportunity for taking part in the dialogue to make the ongoing election commission formation process more meaningful.

I hope, for the sake of the true representation of the people, you would take due initiative to let Jamaat-e-Islami for taking part in the ongoing political dialogue.
