Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 7th March, 2017 protesting the recent move of the government as charge sheet has been placed against 78 peoples keeping BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and 5 top central leaders as the abettor and Jamaat’s central executive committee member and former lawmaker Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher as the principal accused in connection with the incident of throwing petrol bomb into a night coach on 3rd February of 2013 on Dhaka-Chittagong highway that left 8 people killed.
BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Jamaat’s Central Executive Committee member and former MP Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher had no nexus with the incident of throwing petrol bomb into a night coach on 3rd February of 2013 on Dhaka-Chittagong highway that left 8 people killed.
This false charge sheet has been submitted against the opposition leaders including Begum Khaleda Zia and Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher in order to attain ill political interest. The government is trying to make the opposition leaders scapegoat and accordingly they are trying to harass them politically by placing false charge sheet against them. By conducting such a manipulated investigation and placing false charge sheet, the truths can never be concealed. The truth can never be remained as covert. The real truth will be revealed to all one day.
The present authoritarian government is plotting conspiracies to annihilate the opposition quarters including BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami in order to ingrain their power. As a part of the same conspiracy, false charge sheet has been submitted today against 78 opposition men including BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher. This charge sheet is politically motivated and completely biased. By Allah’s will, the countrymen will foil this conspiracy of the government.
Finally I am urging the concerned authorities to revoke the false charge sheet which has been submitted against the top opposition leaders including Begum Khaleda Zia and Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher immediately.”
