Ameer-e-Jamaat calls to observe 21st February as International Mother Language Day with due solemnity

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Maqbul Ahmad has issued the following statement on 18th February, 2017-02-18 urging the countrymen to observe ‘International Mother Language Day and Glorious Martyrdom Day’ on next 21st February with due solemnity and fervour.

“21st February is ‘International Mother Language Day and Glorious Martyrdom Day’. Bengali Language has achieved the recognition as the state language and 21st February has also gained recognition as the International Mother Language Day for the sacrifice and bloods of our great martyrs. The nation will always remember those heroes and great martyrs who had sacrificed their lives demanding the recognition of Bengali as the state language on 21st February of 1952. I am recalling the contributions of those martyrs with due respect and praying to Almighty Allah seeking their salvations.

Bengali language has to be upheld in all aspects and it has to be protected and defended from the cultural aggression and anti-national elements. Only in that case, the dream of the language heroes and martyrs will be fulfilled.

I am urging all the wings and front organizations of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the countrymen to observe ‘International Mother Language Day and Glorious Martyrdom Day’ on next 21st February with due solemnity and fervour.
