Government expels elected chairman of Damurhuda Upazila; Secretary General protests

Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 14th February, 2017-02-14 protesting the temporary expulsion of Chuadanga district’s Damurhuda Upazila council’s elected Chairman and local Jamaat leader Azizur Rahman on last 2nd February.

“The authority has temporarily expelled Chuadanga district’s Damurhuda Upazila council’s elected Chairman and local Jamaat leader Azizur Rahman. He actually became the victim of government’s political vengeance.

Mr. Azizur Rahman is a popular leader. The government has expelled him unlawfully in order to deprive the general masses of the Damurhuda Upazila from getting his service. There is no reasoning and logic behind such temporary expulsion. The authority has committed severe injustice to Mr. Azizur Rahman by expelling him temporarily. Even the elected public representatives are not spared from the repression of the incumbent government.

I am calling upon the authorities concerned to repeal the unjustifiable order of temporary expulsion which has been unlawfully issued against Azizur Rahman.
