Police arrests Laxmipur district Jamaat leader; Hamidur Rahman Azad protests

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Hamidur Rahman Azad has issued the following statement on 11th January, 2017 protesting the unjust arrest of Laxmipur district’s Ramganj municipality unit Jamaat Secretary Nazmul Hasan this morning.

Police has unlawfully arrested Nazmul Hasan in order to harass him politically. The government is plotting conspiracy to wipe out the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami. As a part of the same conspiracy, police is detaining the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir from different places across the country and caused them sufferings. The government is conducting its misrule to bolster its tyrannical rule.

I am urging the authorities concerned to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat and Chhatrashibir including Ramganj municipality unit secretary Nazmul Hasan immediately.”
